America at a Crossroads: Primetime Special
On Monday, September 23, at 9:00 p.m. ET, “Crossroads: A Conversation with America” will air on PBS stations and stream on PBS News’ social platforms. This one-hour primetime special is part of the ongoing PBS NewsHour series, America at a Crossroads, hosted by Judy Woodruff, senior correspondent and the Kettering Foundation’s Katherine W. Fanning Fellow in Journalism and Democracy. The town hall setting includes a panel with Katherine Cramer, a leading political scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, longtime political commentator Charlie Sykes, and Theodore Johnson, a Washington Post opinion contributor. The audience will be comprised of Wisconsin residents from around the Milwaukee area and across the political spectrum. The town hall will explore some of the issues at the heart of our divisions, the values that bind us together, regardless of party or politics, and ideas for restoring a measure of civility to the public square.
Since July 2023, the Kettering Foundation has supported Judy Woodruff Presents: America at a Crossroads. This investigative project explores how America arrived at our current fractured political state and what solutions people envision. This series consists of conversations with voters and local and national politicians across the country, as well as discussions with writers, historians, religious and community leaders, and policy experts. The installments air during the PBS NewsHour and can also be viewed on the PBS NewsHour website.
