Mary Evans
Cocreator and Producer, ReEntry Stories, WYSO and Cofounder, The Journalism Lab
Mary Evans is an audio journalist and radio producer who is a tireless advocate for social justice and inclusive democracy and deeply committed to using her platform to elevate the voices and experiences of underrepresented communities. She is the cocreator, producer, and host of ReEntry Stories, an NPR-affiliated radio show on WYSO 91.3 FM and podcast that features conversations between people who were once in prison. She is also a Kettering Foundation 2025 Dayton Democracy Fellow and a cofounder and correspondent with The Journalism Lab, which is committed to developing engaged communities in the heart of the Midwest and works to get everyday people interested in, passionate about, and reporting on life in their locality. Every aspect of The Journalism Lab is animated by the belief that regular people not only can do this work but also that they should do it. Evans’s full-time job is working as a site coordinator and educator at Wilmington College, which is partnered with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction to offer those who are currently incarcerated the opportunity to earn bachelor’s degrees. Evans received a bachelor’s degree in the business of interdisciplinary media arts from Antioch College.
